So even though this is a book tour celebrating The Labyrinth of Dreaming Books, we've decided to start at the beginning and review it's predecessor The City of Dreaming Books. Contested Sequel: The follow-up, The Labyrinth of Dreaming Books from 2011 (English translation in 2012) has received mixed reactions from fans. The City of Dreaming Books is, bar none, what I would consider the definitive book about books. Okay, I know I'm veering off course here, but one of my favorite books of all time (and space?) is Walter Moers's The City of Dreaming Books. Walter Moers Walter Moers was born in 1957. If anyone doesn't know, Walter Moers is the most amazing author ever. 'Optimus Yanspinner inherits from his godfather an unpublished manuscript by an unknown writer and sets off to track down the mysterious author, who disappeared into Bookholm--the so-called City of Dreaming Books. The last mentioned character is the narrator and protagonist in Moers' Zamonia novel “The city of dreaming books”. A celebrated illustrator, cartoonist and novelist, he lives in Hamburg. YMMV: The City Of Dreaming Books. He is German and has created some of the best books of the human race (in my opinion). The City of Dreaming Books is one of my favourite books so far.
